Reliable source DigiTimes are reporting that after successful sales of their 11-inch and 13-inch ultrabooks they are now going to release a larger 15-inch ultrabook. If we are lucky we will see this 15-inch Acer Ultrabook announced at CES 2012 which is just week away now.
This rumor or leak comes from Pegatron, who is said to be producing this new model. (The current models are currently produced by Wistron).
The most interesting and appealing thing is… the price! Currently the smaller ultrabooks currently available sit at the $1000+ mark (often criticized for the slow adoption of ultrabooks), but the new 15-inch ultrabook is speculation to have a price tag of just $599.
If this is true, we would imagine that they would sell like hot cakes, and really help to give the ultrabook market a boost, and of course Acer as well.
No word of rumor of launch dates right now, but if the rumor is true, we’re sure Acer will want to get it out on top, especially as there are rumors of a 15-inch MacBook Air coming early next year.
DigiTimes contacted both Acer and Pegatron, and they both refused to comment. I certainly hope it’s true!
