Acer Aspire One AOD255The new 10-inch Acer Aspire One D255 netbook has just been revealed by reliable source Macles.

The Acer Aspire One AOD255 builds on the AOD260 (slightly confusing giving a higher spec’ed model a lower model number), by giving it the new Intel Atom N550 dual core processor.

The external of the Acer AOD255 is very similar to that of the AOD260, but it looses the chrome elements, and adds a number of extra color options.

Update: The Acer Aspire One AOD255 is now available from Amazon for just $329! $260

There have been netbooks with dual core Atom processors before, but those were in fact designed for a nettop, so the dual core 1.5GHz Atom N550 is the first true dual core Atom netbook CPU. It has two cores at 1.5Ghz with 512KB of L2 cache each, and hyperthreading, resulting in four cores.

This makes the Acer Aspire One D255E the second netbook, along with the Asus Eee PC 1015N to make use of the N550.

Also, it’s interesting to note (if the press photos are accurate) the display looks like it can be opened almost, or completely flat.
