Just over a month ago the Asus Eee PC 1005PR was announced at CeBIT alongside a number of other new netbooks.
But the Asus 1005PR stands out from the vast majority of other netbooks for two reasons which are linked. Rather than having a standard 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 pixel resolution display, the 1005PR has the same size display but with a higher 1366 X 768 WXGA HD resolution. It also packs a Broadcom Crystal HD Accelerator card, making it capable of playing back 1080p HD videos!
The Asus Eee PC 1005PR is now available from Amazon for $399! and is currently shipping out.
The rest of the specifications are pretty standard, as the 1005PR builds on the popular 1005PE by adding the HD display and the HD playback card. A quick reminder; Intel Atom N450 1.66Ghz processor, 1GB of RAM, 2150GB hard drive, WiFi, Chiclet keyboard, and an 11 hour battery life.
The extra resolution will make the netbook easier to use as it will feel less cramped and give you extra desktop space. Also, with the upcoming release of Flash 10.1, YouTube 1080p HD video playback will also be possible.
Order the Asus 1005PR now for $399 from Amazon.
