i saw ur review of this netbook with win 7 starter but with custom desktop background. as i know, u can’t change the desktop background in win 7 starter. how did u do that?

Thanks for a really good review. I’m resident in South Africa and up to now have only used a desk top.
I’m visiting Europe shortly and having read the review for the Asus 1008P am thinking of buying this or the Acer Aspire One 533 when I arrive in the UK. I have read the specification for both including the software included for the Acer but have not been able to find the details of the software included for the Asus. Could you please advise.

I just wanted to say that I really liked your review. I bougth mine on April, but I only read this today. It’s just to let you know that it comes with two batteries, no doubt about that, at least in Portugal. Mine is pink, for obvious reasons, and it’s the best purchase ever!Light and usefull. I just have one problem. Still coulnd’t figure out how to turn on bluetooth. In fact, I still don’t know if it has a built-in bluetooth device.. Could you help with that?

About battery life:
I experience 5 hours per battery when choosing one of the battery setup condition.

If you need more battery life, forget this and go for the Asus 1005P with the 6 cell battery.

I have both a 1008HA and 1008P. The US version ships with one battery but batteries are available on the Taiwan and Hongkong equivalent of ebay.

The 1008 really needs 2gb of ram to work well. I also went to the tweak Win 7 site to learn how to shut off a lot of unnecessary features.

Nothing beats the size of the 1008 and the keyboard is really easy to use compared to the old Eeepc 701. Battery life is around 3.5 hours.

If you buy the 1008HA, upgrading the ram to 2gb was not that difficult if you can follow the instruction on youtube and take precaution against static charge as you work with the notebook’s guts exposed. It should only take 10 minutes. Or you can take a dremel tool to the back 1008HA cover and cut out a panel like the 1008P, which gives you direct access to the on board ram chip without splitting the case.

Either way, this tiny computer is really worth it if you want a subcompact traveling companion if blazing fast processing speed is not a core requirement.

Hi Matt!! In fact, I m not interesting about the mouse,it ll be a problem to carry it..So,the case is something i like and i m go on for it ! I don t think we ll find a more powerfull battery because this netbook has no space for larger and powerfull battery..But i m not stop to find some information about this!Matt what s your opinion??

Thanks for the link to the cases, from that model number I found it a little cheaper on Amazon for $28, but just the case and not the mouse. I will keep looking.

Unfortunately I haven’t found any information about the battery.

It’s Matt btw, I think the other commenter got confused!

I have yet to see the he official case, as shown here: http://www.netbookreviews.net/asus/1008p-accessories/ , for sale anywhere just yet.

I will be sure to update the linked post when I find it. Please let us know if you find it first!
