When Asus were showing off all of their latest netbooks at the various trade shows the Asus Eee PC 1015PN was there.
But at the time I confused it with the similar looking and sounding Asus 1015N. The Asus 1015PN is a 10.1-inch netbook featuring the latest Intel Atom N475 N550 dual core processor with DDR3 RAM support and the next generation Nvidia ION graphics (ION 2) and Optimus technology.
Update: The single core N475 processor has been replaced by the new dual core Atom N550.
Ion 2 graphics bring HD playback while the Optimus technology provides longer battery life by intelligently switching between the powerful Ion 2 graphics and the low power Intel graphics.
Asus Eee PC 1015PN has a great looking design, and looks similar to all the new Asus Eee PC’s coming though. It has a large trackpad and high quality chiclet keyboard. It also has a matte (non gloss) finish on the palm rest, lid and the display. This is great to see as the gloss finish on netbooks pick up fingerprints and smears very easily. And a matte screen is also preferable as it cuts down on annoying reflections.
Along with the latest Ion 2 graphics with Optimus and HDMI output, the Asus 1015PN also packs the latest USB 3.0 support and Bluetooth 3.0. Other features include 1GB of DDR3 RAM, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, and a 250GB/ 320GB hard drive.

Asus 1015PN
It will be available with a 6-cell 48Wh or a 6-cell 56Wh battery, and comes with Windows 7 Starter Edition.
No pricing or release date are currently known, but we know it will be available in Black, Red, and White color options.
Update: It now looks like the Asus 1015PN will be powered by the new Intel Atom N550 dual core processor for an extra performance boost, along with ION 2 graphics. Design and specification wise it looks a lot like the newly announced 1015PEM, but the 1015PEM lacks the ION 2 graphics.
Update: The Asus 1015PN is now availably to order in the US for $429!
It has also just shown up in the UK on Amazon UK fro £337!
Their availability could be regional, as we know the 1015PEM looks set to hit Europe before the US, and the 1015PN is expected to his the U.S in September.

Looking at the video at the system performance numbers, this one got
Processor: 3.2
Memory(RAM): 4.7
Graphics: 3.2
Gaming Graphics: 4.8
Primary HD: 5.8
I have the ASUS 1201N from last year. It has the Atom 330 1.6ghz dual core and it’s numbers are:
Processor: 3.3
Memory(RAM): 4.6
Graphics: 4.2
Gaming Graphics: 5.2
Primary HD: 5.9
Why would I want the 1015PN? The 1201N is a great machine!

The 1201N is a great machine indeed, but the 1015PN is a 10-inch machine, rather than a 12-inch of the 1201N.
And it adds Optimus, which should increase the battery life.
Also: The figures you quoted for the 1015PN are probably taken from when it was powered by the single core N475, rather than the new dual core N550.
