Asus are on a roll right now and yet another new very impressive netbook has been discovered. The new 12-inch Asus Eee PC 1218 netbook has a great looking one piece aluminum chassis, and has already won an award.
We are used to netbooks leaking out onto the web before their official announcement, but this one is a first. Although the Asus Eee PC 1218 has yet to be announced, it has already one a Red Dot 2010 award at the asusdesign website.
Asus announced a number of aluminum clad netbooks at CeBiT earlier this year, but the 12-inch Asus 1218 wasn’t among them.
The Asus 1218 looks very slim and sleek, and has all of its ports at the back of the netbook, keeping the front and sides of the netbook smooth. The Asus Eee PC 1008P has ports on it’s side, but has little covers to hide them, which looks great. So moving them to the back will keep the Asus Eee PC 1218 looking great.

The simple aluminum design continues on the inside also, with a one piece aluminum palm rest and keyboard frame. The webcam also has a sliding cover which guarantees privacy.
We hope to find out some more on the Asus 1218 soon. Enjoy the photos!
Update: Just a small update. We are hearing rumors that the we could see the 1218 launching May 13th, and that it features Nvidia Ion graphics.
