A few weeks ago Asus announced that they will be releasing a duel core atom Eee PC, touchscreen Eee PC and also a new very cheap, sub $300 Eee PC.
Well, it seems that they have gone ahead with their sub $300 netbook, with the discovery of the Asus Eee PC 701SDX. German eepcnew.de were sent some photos of the new 701SDX model, which they suspect is the rumored sub $300 machine.

The Asus Eee PC 701SDX looks very similar to the original 701. There is a 7-inch LCD screen, and no-webcam. to reduce costs, other specifications are currently unknown. We are assuming the Asus Eee PC 701SDX will make use of the newer Atom CPU and feature either a 4GB or 8GB SSD drive, and Windows XP.
As soon as Asus give word, we will be sure to let you know.
