We have just heard a rumor from the usually reliable Taiwanese DigiTimes website that Asus are working on the Asus Eee Box B1006 nettop, which will be Nividia Ion based.

We have already seen two new versions of the Eee Box with HDMI output in the form of the B206 / B204 and the yet to show it’s self, dual core B208.

Everyone seems to want to get the powerful Nvidia chipset / graphics in their new netbooks / nettops, and we’re sure that Asus want to gain back some ground lost to Acer with their popular Ion powered Acer Aspire Revo nettop.

No word on which CPU the Eee Box B1006 will feature, we would love to see a dual core Atom CPU rather than the common Atom N230, to give it something a little extra over the current Aspire Revo models.

Just like with the other recent Eee Box nettops, the B1006 will feature a HDMI output, and with the addition Ion power, will be able to playback 1080p HD files without any problems.

It is expected to be launched in the third quater of this year. Asus are also reported to have some Ion based Eee PC netbooks in the works, but have no production dates set just yet. Via DigiTimes
