The Asus 1001HA is the latest entry level netbook offering from Asus.
While it might not feature Ion graphics as found in the recently announced Asus Eee PC Asus 1201N, it is bound to be a lot cheaper, and cater for those looking for a simple netbook.
What is interesting about the Asus Eee PC 1001HA is that it will be available in three different versions, with different operating systems. As the Asus 1001HA XP with Windows XP, the 1001HA LX with Linux, and also as a model with no operating system at all.
A netbook without an OS might sound a little strange, but there will be no license fees as with Windows, which will help reduce the price a little, and allow you to install an operating system of your choice.

The casing is also a little different from the other current Asus netbooks. While it still features the attractive and popular seashell design, rather than having a glossy (finger print magnet) finish, it has a unique textured pattern, available in black or white color options.
The Asus Eee PC 1001HA should be available from September 23rd for €250-300. It is not known whether it will be available outside of Europe.
Update: The Asus 1001HA is now is now available to purchase in the UK, in black and white colour options for just £199.
Update 2: It is now also available in the US for $417 from Amazon!
Update 3: This model has now been upgraded and replaced with the Asus 1001P. So it might be hard to find the 1001HA model around. The new “P” version features the latest Intel Atom N450 1.66Ghz CPU along with Windows 7 Starter and up to 11 hours of battery life. It’s currently available for pre-order between $299 and $339.
