Disney and leading netbook manufacturer Asus have teamed up to create a Disney inspired netbook.
The Disney netbook will be called the Asus Netpal or Disney Netpal, and will be targeted at kid from 6 to 12 years old. The Netpal is essentially a Disney branded and themed Eee PC netbook with a 8.9-inch display and a typical Intel Atom processor.
It will be available in two colors; “Magic Blue” (with miniature Mickey Mouse icons), and as “Princess Pink” with florals. Both models should be available in late July from Amazon and Toys R Us for just $350.
A special Disney kid friendly user interface will run on top of Windows XP and feature several customizable themes based on Cars, Toy Story, Mickey Mouse, Wall-E and others.
The Netpal nettop will also features parental controls to limit websites, and also e-mail correspondence. There is also a Radio Disney widget to stream music.
The Disney Netpal will be available with either a 160GB hard drive, or a 16GB SSD (solid state drive). I would recommend the SSD as it can take a tough beating from clumsy kids, and adults! It will weight between 2.2 and 2.6 pounds.
