Asus Eee PC

There have been a number of rumors loading around the web of a new ultra thin netbook from Asus, called the “Shell”.

This news has now been posted by both the Commercial Times and DigiTimes. They are reporting that the ASUS Eee PC Shell netbook with be Asus’ second generating ultra-thin Eee Pc, which will launch in April, and replace of the Asus S101 model.

Whether the Asus Shell name is currently just the “code name” for the netbook, or the official name, we can’t help but picture a clamshell style cell phone.

The new “Shell” model will apparently be easier to carry, feature a longer batter life, and higher specifications, for between NT$17,000 and 20,000, which is currently $485 – $570.

Helpfully we will hear more on the Asus “Shell” shortly at CeBIT next week!

Update:  Asus has releaved the Shell as the very attractive Asus Eee PC 1008HA.
