When I filmed the Asus Eee Pad Transformer at the UK press launch I received a number of questions regarding just how well the trackpad works and also if it was possible to use an external USB mouse.
With a normal tablet computer of course none of this would even be possible.
When you connect the Transformer pad to the keyboard dock you of course get access to the keyboard along with the trackpad. A black mouse cursor also appears on the display. The trackpad works just as you would expect, and is very responsive, accurate and has no lag.
I heard that it was possible to use an external USB mouse with the Asus Transformer, but I hadn’t see any example of this. I used a standard Logitech mouse that I used with my Windows laptop. When i pluged in the micro USB receiver into the Transformer, there was no notification popup or sound, but I was pleased to see that it worked.
The video below shows its use.
The external mouse worked perfectly, the scroll wheel worked, and the right click acted as a back command. Connecting a mouse do not disable the other inputs, so you can still use the trackpad, and touchscreen.
