Asus UL20AThe Asus UL20A is the smallest model from the new Asus UL series. The UL20A sits right in the middle ground between netbooks and standard notebooks, and is technically called a “thin and light” notebook.

As the Asus UL20A is the smallest model with a 12.1-inch LCD (1366 x 768), it still fits in the netbook size category, albeit on the larger side. With the UL20A they have tried to keep the benefits of a netbook with low weight, and long battery life, but give it some extra power typically found in full sized notebooks.

Rather than an Intel Atom CPU the Asus UL20A features an Intel SU7300 Core 2 Duo CPU, along with 2GB of RAM (upto 4GB), a 250GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, webcam and Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit).

It weighs slightly more than an average netbook, but only just, and also manages 7.5 hour of battery life, while also offering more power. Brad from Liliputing reviewed the UL20A and was relatively impressed with it, and said “it’s hard to find another laptop that packs this much power into this small and light a package for under $600. The Acer Aspire 1810T is comparable, but I personally prefer the keyboard, touchpad, and general build quality of the Asus UL20A.”

The Asus UL20A-A1 is currently available on Amazon for $581
