We reported on new Gateway EC series way back in April, but back then all we knew was the size of the netbook and some basic specifications.
Now that the black Gateway EC1435U, and red Gateway EC1805U netbooks have been officially announced and made available we now known all of the specifications and details.
As they feature the Intel Core 2 Solo SU3500 processor, which is an CULV (consumer ultra low voltage) CPU, rather than the Intel Atom CPU, it is technically an “thin and light notebook” rather than a netbook.
If you take a close look at the specifications, you will notice that the Gateway EC1435U and EC1805U are in fact a re-branded Acer Aspire 1410. This isn’t totally unexpected as it’s quite common now days, especially as Acer are the parent company of Gateway. If you like the look of these Gateway machines, you might want to quickly check out the design and price of the 1410 first.
The Gateway EC1805U and EC1435U feature 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, a 11.6-inch LED backlit HD display, webcam, Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics, HDMI, 3x USB 2.0, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, multi-gesture touchpad and a 6-cell battery.
Both models measure 8.03 x 11.22 x 1.18 inches and weigh 3.08 pounds, feature Windows 7 Home Premium, while the 6-cell battery should last up to 7 hours.
The Gateway EC1435 is available from Newegg for $419. The red Gateway EC1805U will be available on Amazon from the December 8th for $449. Via NetbookTech
