The Gateway EC14D netbook might not be called a netbook by Gateway, as it features an internal DVD drive, but apart from this defining feature, it is a true netbook at heart.
The netbook has an 11.6-inch LCD display with a 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution and of course the DVD SuperMulti 8x optical drive. While it is almost a defining feature of a netbook to not feature an optical drive of any sort, the Gateway EC14D breaks this trend.
It features an Intel SU4100 1.3 GHz processor, on the Intel GS45 Express chipset, 320GB hard drive and can support up to 4GB of RAM. We are also told that it features a multitouch touchpad.

The 11.6-inch Gateway EC14D netbook / CULV also has a 6-cell 5,600 mAh battery which can provide 8 hours of run time on the included Windows 7 Home Premium OS.
While most people won’t miss the optical drive (and can add an external USB DVD drive), if you want a powerful, all in one netbook, the Gateway EC14D will give you just that.
The Gateway EC14D is expected to be available shortly for about $629. In Europe it will probably be released under the Packard Bell label.
