Although not officially announced, a six cell battery can now be found and ordered for the HP Mini 1000 netbook. The 6-cell battery would double the battery life of the Mini 1000, making it even more useful on to go.
The 6-cell battery is listed as a “lithium polymer, 2.4Ah and 53Wh” battery on the HP site for $153.90 $95.99, with the following part number 517581-001.
Slightly over $150 might seem a bit steep for a bigger battery, considering the HP Mini 1000 it’s self only costs $350 starting price, but if you want longer life, you now have the option. Listed on the HP site as for the HP Mini 1000 CTO, and confirmed working on the HP Mini 1030NR, so it will work on all Mini 1000′s.
Update: It seems that people were having problems in the past getting their hands on the 6-cell battery, which is now official. But as of today, it’s back on the HP website (link) for just $95.99 (after an instant $24 rebate).
