The HP Mini 5101 is a durable business class netbook with a compact design, long battery life and a high quality aluminum and magnesium chassis.

Ideal for business travelers who need something more durable that a plastic finished netbook, but still require the light weight and compact design.

The HP Mini 5101, which is also known as the HP Mini Executive, has a 10.1-inch LED backlit LCD with 1024 x 600 or “HD” 1366 x 768 resolutions. The 160GB hard drive is faster than standard at 7,200rpm with HP 3D DriveGuard protection. A 128GB SSD is available at extra cost.

Intel’s newer Atom N280 1.66GHz CPU is featured along side 1GB of DDR2 RAM, which is upgradeable to 2GB. The 95% full-sized chicklet keyboard was rated highly by reviewers, saying it was comfortable and easy to type on.

The 6-cell battery was found to last nearly 8 hours with WiFi on and surfing. The WiF was one of the best performing, achieving 37.7 Mbps at 15 feet. LaptopMag gave the HP Mini 5101 four out of five and said, the HP 5101 gets a lot of things right: its business-rugged design makes this netbook more durable than consumer-focused systems, and its performance is better than the majority of the netbooks on the market. Users looking for a netbook that can withstand being jostled around would do well to consider the HP Mini 5101.
