Asus External DVD DriveThere are very very few netbooks on the market which feature an optical drive of some sort, whether it be a CD or DVD burner, in fact, it’s one of the common features which separate netbooks from laptops.

Not having a DVD drive in netbooks, saves room, weight and cost in the production of netbooks, and most users will not have a problem with this.

Many users have resorted to get their files on to their netbook from a CD or DVD via another computer via their home network, or via copying the information on the a USB memory stick. While this will work for many situations, it’s not ideal.

The best solution, is to buy a slim external USB DVD Drive! Simply plug the external drive into a USB port on your netbook, and the drive will show up on your netbook, as if it was a standard internal drive. The best thing is, most of the external DVD drives are powered from the USB port, and don’t require a power supply.

Most of the drives are very small, slim and light. You can either use the drive only at home, or simply bring it with you in your netbook case.
