If you’re looking to move away from Windows as an operating system or simply looking to try something different, Jolicloud would be a great OS to start with.
It can be installed simply from Windows, or directly from ISO, and sit alongside your Windows installation as a dual boot option.
Jolicloud has been designed especially for netbooks, and they are just about to release version 1.0 of their operating system. Current uses will receive an automatic update over the next week or so.

Jolicloud 1.0
But Sascha at NetbookNews.de already has the latest version and has made a first impressions video of the Jolicloud operating system running along nicely on the new Acer Aspire One 533.
The latest version now has a new user interface built from HTML5, which looks great, and has a more continuous look. There are over 700 apps available to download which can be installed and uninstalled from a simple click.
As with Windows, the Jolicloud OS can slow down the CPU speed when it’s not needed, saving battery life.
Check out Sascha’s video below for his impressions.
