Asus have just shown off an upcoming “Smartbook” to the world, and now the first official product has been announced. The Mobinnova Elan smartbook / netbook is the first machine to be powered by the Nvidia Tegra chipset.
The Mobinnova élan netbook, or smartbook, which ever you choose, looks amazing and weighs less than two pounds, but packs plenty of power.
The sub-two pound machine can playback 720p HD video on the 8.9-inch screen without any problems, and also boasts hardware accelerated Flash videos. Many netbooks, including Ion powered ones struggle when it comes to Flash videos, even though they can playback 1080p. This hardware acceleration will enable users to playback Hulu videos and HD flash videos.

The Mobinnova Elan also features WiFi and 3G, and has a battery which can for five to ten hours with video playback. It’s not too clear what operating system it is running, but it claims to have an innovative 3D graphical user interface. We hope to hear more about the Elan soon!
