The netbook world is dominated by one range of processors, the Intel Atom. And 90% of these processors are the Atom N270 and N280.
VIA would like to change that, and they have now announced their new processor line. The new VIA Nano 3000 (Isaiah based) series is a range of six new CPUs, which comes in speeds between 1GHZ and 2GHz.
All the VIA Nano 3000 processors have 64-bit support, a 800MHz front side bus, SSE4. and both Windows 7 and Linux compatibility.
Number wise. VIA say that the Nana 3000’s perform 20% faster than the earlier Nanos, and outperform the 1.6GHz Atom N270 by 40-50%. They also use 20% less power than VIA’s current Nano CPUs.
VIA also say that all of the new models support 1080p HD playback. Expect to see these around early next year.
