The Intel Atom CPU is currently the preferred choice for netbook manufacturers, with the 1.6Ghz clock speeds being the more popular.

Intel have just announced the Intel Atom Z550 CPU with a faster 2.0GHz clock speed and the Atom Z515 with dynamic clock speed ranging from 800MHz to 1.33GHz to adjust for your processing power needs at the time.

There have been many rumors flying around the Internet about the possibility of an Apple Netbook, or an Apple touchscreen netbook to be exact.

These rumors have recently gained a little more credibility and information after Dow Jones Newswire reported that two people close to the situation confirm the rumor.

Upgrading the ram in your netbook can be one of the easiest, cheapest and most effective performance boost you can give.

Upgrading your netbook ram can usually be done in a matter of mere minuets, and usually involves simply removing the plastic cover on the base of your netbook and swamping out the old ram module for the new larger capacity module.

Just yesterday we saw ASRock dipping their toes in the netbook world with the AsRock G12. But it seems they are getting in on the nettop market as well, with the appropriately named ASRock NetTop S330.

ASRock seem to be getting in on the netbook game, just like everyone else. The ASRock MultiBook G12 sits on the upper limits of the netbook criteria, and some may class it as a notebook, but we thought it was worth our readers attention.

We have seen some interesting new netbook designs recently, some that are touchscreen, and some than can be converted into a tablet. But we have never seen a design quiet like the “Touch Book” before.

Made by a company called Always Innovating the Touch Book netbook has a unique design which allows the removable screen to be separated from the keyboard / base of the netbook and be used as a fully functional touchscreen tablet pc.

Gigabyte have shown of three new netbook at this years CeBIT, all of which offer something a little different from most netbooks currently available. Rather than the standard netbook design, each different model has it’s own special feature.

It seems that the line between netbooks and MIDs (mobile Internet devices) increasingly getting blurred, and the UMID M1 mbook is the first device to push this even further.

Intel has published a slide of a diagram showing their future netbook processor and chipset plans. It’s very interesting to see how the intel Atom CPU lineup will go. The new Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz CPU can be used with the original 945GSE chipset, or paired with the new GN40 chipset as an “enhanced media netbook”.
