Shuttle have been making ultra-compact PC for many years, before the words netbook and nettop even took off.
They have now announced their latest ultra compact and thin nettop to the world. The Shuttle Barebone XS35 is just 3.3cm thin, and is HD compatible.
The Shuttle XS35 is made even more interesting by the use of the new Pineview Intel Atom D510 dual core processor (1.66GHz x2), and the much talked about “Next Generation Ion” or the NVIDIA GT218 (ION2) as Shuttle are calling it.
The 3.3cm device can be mounted to the back of your LCD monitor or HDTV. Just like the ASUS EB1501, the XS35 also features room for an optical slimline drive, along with a 2.5-inch hard drive.
The NVIDIA GT218 (ION2) graphics card features HDMI for digital video and audio to compatible monitors and HDTVs, providing “streaming 3D and video playback”.
Other ports on the XS35 include a healthy 5x USB ports, VGA, Ethernet and audio connections.
And to top it off, the Shuttle XS35 is passively cooled (fanless), so is almost silent, making it perfect for use as a HTPC / media center.
It will be on display at CeBIT, and available for a currently unknown price in the second quarter this year.
Update: The XS35 is expected to launch this September, and to cost about €320 in France. Ports include HDMI output, 5x USB 2.0, Ethernet, and VGA.
