Samsung have just shown off their latest netbook, the Samsung N230.
Hardware wise, the 10.1-inch Samsung N230 is essentially the same as N210 or N220 that was released earlier this year. But they have given the netbook a fresh makeover on outside, blessing it with a brushed metal palm rest, chrome hinges, a new boarderless chiclet style keyboard, and new trackpad with individual buttons.
I have been a fan of the Samsung N210 (read my review), and use it as my main netbook right now, so I’m looking forward to seeing the new Samsung N230 in person.
While the specifications remain mostly the same as the N210 / N220 I very much like the new design, which is stylish and professional looking. No doubt Samsung have seen the upcoming Asus Aluminum netbooks, and want to join in the action.
Update: The Samsung N230 is now available to order for just $399 from Amazon! And £349 in the UK!
Update 2: Samsung have now made the N230 official via a press release, and has also brought along a number of great looking press photos.
Update 3: My detailed Samsung N230 review has now been published! I was very impressed with the N230!
Hardware wise the N230 has a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 pixel display, 1GB of RAM, the 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor (or 1.83Ghz N470), and a 160GB hard drive, and runs Windows 7 Starter Edition. I kind of suspect that the UK / US version of the Samsung N230 will have a larger 250GB hard drive.
The Samsung N230 certainly does have a stylish / professional look to it, and I can’t wait to try it out myself. Samsung have also revealed that the N230 comes with either a 32-Wh 7 hour battery, or a 6-cell 66Wh battery which lasts an amazing 13.8 hours!
Buy the Samsung N230 from Amazon for $399, or read my review first!

Heyy Matt,Thanks for the review
I was just wondering, isn’t 1GB of RAM not enough for a netbook? especially one supporting Windows 7.

Hey Conor, thanks, my full review can be viewed here: http://www.netbookreviews.net/samsung/n230-review/
1GB is fine for Windows 7, and runs very well. IF you want to run many programs at once, 2GB might be better, and is an easy upgrade.

I just bought a N230, but I had some questions as I was reading through this review. First off, I made the mistake of confusing the AC charger as plugged in during the entire ‘system startoff’ process and therefore the first 30 minutes or so of the computer system was running off the battery life. When windows was turned on, I had 38% of battery life to charge completely. So I am asking how ill-affected my battery life would be. Also, how can I check what my battery Wh is? On the back of my netbook the ‘input’ says 40Wh. I would appreciate some knowledgable response. Thank you.

I wouldn’t worry about it Simon.
They recommend you plug in the AC power during the first system setup as it could cause problems if the battery ran out during this important set up stage. Just make sure you give the battery a good charge upto 100% and it should be fine.
If you remove the battery, it should say on it. Rated at 66Wh (5900mAh). You can view a photo of where to locate it in my Samsung N230 review.

George, somewhere I read that the N230 had Bluetooth 3. But my new unit has no bluetooth, and specifications on Samsung’s US site do NOT include a bluetooth.
Disappointing, but not a deal-breaker — Kensington and others make a small, cheap USB version.
Also, there is no 6-cell battery available here (yet ?).
LOVE the keyboard !
