Samsung

New for 2010 Samsung have released four new netbooks, all featuring the new Intel Atom N450 1.6GHz Pine Trail processor. We have already covered the Samsung N210 and N220 in a previous post, and will talk about the Samsung NB30 and N150 here.

While the N210, N220 seem to be the new top dogs with a 12 hour battery life, the Samsung N150 and NB30 still offer impressive battery life of 8.5 hours and 11 hours respectively.

The N150 and NB30 share a lot of similar features, with the specifications looking almost identical. They share the Intel N450 processor, GMA 3150 graphics, 1GB of RAM, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, and a 10.1-inch anti-reflective screen. Additionally, they both have a “mark and scratch resistant case”, which sounds appealing to us, as most of the world is getting sick of the high gloss, but finger print magnet cases.

The Samsung N150 doesn’t do too much to make it stand out from the rest, with Samsung saying it has an integrated hinge with smooth movement, which doesn’t sound too exciting, but we’re sure it will be priced well.  We know it will be available in at least two color options; white and black.  As you can see from the photo below the N150 features a red colored band around its edges giving it a stylish look.

Samsung NB30

On the other hand the Samsung NB30 seems a whole lot more interesting. Although practically identical on a specifications stand point, the NB30 is an “ultra-durable” netbook. It features a hard drive free-fall sensor which parks and protects the hard drive if the netbook is dropped, which helps to prevent data loss and damage to the drive. It is also features a water tight seal to prevent damage to the system if up to 50 cc of water is spilt on the system, and removed within 10 seconds. Sounds great for clumsy users! We have seen business orientated netbooks before, such as the HP 5102, but never a ultra durable netbook. It makes sense to combine this with a ultra portable device.

Both Samsung netbooks weight 2.73 lbs, measure 10.4” x 7.4” x 0.99” – 1.05”, and features 3x USB 2.0 ports, multicard reader, Ethernet, VGA and comes with Windows 7 Starter.
