Recently it was revealed that RIM have snatched up the domain name blackpad.com giving reason to believe the device will be known as the Rim / Blackberry BlackPad.
Since then more solid rumors / information has been coming our way.
The BlackPad looks to have a 9.7-inch display with Bluetooth and WiFi. It is also said to have a 3G mobile broadband connection via Bluetooth and a Blackberry phone. This sounds like a very smart idea, as the tablet its self won’t need to feature 3G hardware, or its own tariff and contract costs.
According to Bloomberg’s sources the BlackPad will also feature both front and fear facing cameras, and be powered the the Android operating system. Apple Daily have said that they believe Quanta have won the bid the manufacture the Blackberry tablet, and have plants for 2 millions units from September, with a retail launch in November. With a further 8 million planned for 2011.
The price of the BlackPad seems to be currently set at $499.
