The Toshiba NB100 is the very first Netbook from the laptop experts Toshiba. Better known for making the full size machines, Toshiba like many others out there want a piece of the netbook pie.
Their first production netbook looks to be hitting the UK market first, very soon. The Toshiba Satellite NB100 is a 8.9-inch machine, that weight less than 1kg. Featuring the latests Intel 1.6Ghz Atom CPU, a 1024 x 600 pixel with LED backlighting for a better image and less power draw.
The Toshiba NB100 netbook will be available in two versions, one with Windows XP Home with a 120GB HDD and 1GB of Ram, for £299, or with Linux Ubuntu netbook Remix with a 80GB HDD, 512MB Ram for £259.
There is a 802.11b/g WiFi and 10/100 Ethernet port, along with three USB ports that can change devices while the netbook is in sleep mode. There is also a 0.3MP webcam, and an SD slot.
looking like a smaller version of their true business laptops the Toshiba NB100 looks good and has a solid build. Finally, the Toshiba NB100 will be available in three colours, “Cosmic Black” and “Bright Silver” and “champagne Gold”.
Expect to see the NB100 around the end of October, start of November.
