For 2011, Toshiba have updated their popular NB305 netbook, and announced the NB505. The new Toshiba NB305-N600 now features the new powerful dual core Intel Atom N550 processor.
The new N550 processor gives th Toshiba NB305 a big speed increase. The 1.5GHz x 2 processors also supports hyperthreading, showing as four cores. This extra power now means that the NB305-N600 is powerful enough to playback YouTube HD videos, something which the single core models couldn’t cope with.
It also comes with 1GB of DDR3 RAM running at 667MHz, and can support up to 2GB max. The 250GB hard drive runs at 5400 RPM and features Toshiba Hard Drive Impact Sensor, which can detect if the netbook has been dropped, and will protect the drives data in a fall.
The Toshiba has a NB305 N550 netbook has a 10.1-inch TruBrite LCD with LED backlight and a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution.
It comes with Windows 7 Starter Edition, and has a 6-cell 48 Wh battery which has been tested to provide for 8-9 hours of run time.
